The Global Network of Director Institutes (GNDI) has met over the last few days in London, from July 16th to Wednesday 19th July 2023.

The Global Network of Director Institutes (GNDI) has met over the last few days in London, from July 16th to Wednesday 19th July 2023. These have been the first meetings that the GNDI members have participated in person since the meetings held in Dubai in 2019. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the GNDI have only met on digital platforms and have elevated the operations and brand of the GNDI through these online platforms. The GNDI is a network of leading director institutes from around the world.

The GNDI Chair, Rahul Bhardwaj, ended his term at the Main Member Meeting held on Tuesday, 18 July. Rahul has been a dynamic Chair who has not only ably led but has grown and stabilised the GNDI through the uncertainty of the last couple of years. Along with his role as Chair of the GNDI, he is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) in Canada, Rahul has invested so much of his time and energy into the strategic vision and operations of the institute. He was thanked for his strong leadership and for upholding the governance principles of governance that the GNDI promotes globally.


At the GNDI Main Member Meeting, Kirsten Patterson, Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Directors New Zealand (IoDNZ), was appointed as the new Chair of the GNDI and will lead the institute for the next two years and will continue to drive the objective of the GNDI, which is to strengthen corporate governance and director development and thought leadership through the collaboration among the world’s leading director organisations comprises of an international network of 25 director institutes and collectively represents more than 160,000 individual directors and governance professionals.


The GNDI members, at the same meeting, appointed Pedro Melo as the Deputy Chair. Pedro is the Chief Executive Officer of the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance (IBGC) and he will support the new GNDI Chair for the next two years.


The GNDI members congratulate both Kirsten and Pedro on their appointments and wish them well as they take on their new roles which will assist the GNDI to continue to elevate the international governance brand and continue to drive the initiative of the GNDI and its members.
